Four for Four: Super Copper Logs Visible Copper at El Alto Target in Atacama
Maiden diamond drilling at the El Alto target hits visible copper minerals and sulphides across all four initial holes in Chile's Atacama Desert, setting the stage for imminent assay results.

Finding copper in Chile’s Atacama Desert is a rite of passage for mineral explorers, but hitting visible copper in every single hole of an inaugural campaign is the kind of geological luck, and systematic planning, that turns heads.
Mining explorer Super Copper Corp. (CSE: CUPR / OTCQB: CUPPF) announced that the first four diamond drill holes at the El Alto target within its flagship Cordillera Cobre Project have all intersected visible copper mineralization.
The early-stage success at El Alto gives the Vancouver-based explorer a head start on outlining what appears to be a broader structurally controlled system. Across three separate drill platforms, geological teams logged visible copper minerals throughout the volcanic sequence, with three of the four completed holes hosting coveted copper sulphides such as chalcocite, covellite, and locally bornite.
The highlight of the early sequence belongs to hole DH26CC-003, the deepest completed hole in the maiden program at 593.2 metres. The hole intersected ten separate copper occurrence levels ranging from 30 metres all the way down to 581 metres downhole. Perhaps most intriguing for structural geologists is a matching native-copper-bearing tuff unit logged around 356 to 360 metres in both DH26CC-003 and hole DH26CC-004. Because the collar locations for these two holes sit roughly 500 metres apart and were drilled in opposing directions, the matching host units provide a key stratigraphic marker to test whether favorable copper-bearing horizons repeat across the target.
Chief Executive Officer Zachary Dolesky highlighted that having copper sulphides in three holes alongside recurring volcanic host units across separate drill platforms is a solid foundation for a maiden campaign. Dolesky noted that the immediate focus shifts to laboratory assay verification to determine which specific structures and host horizons carry commercial copper grades for follow-up targeting.
The technical execution at Cordillera Cobre is backed by independent geological consulting firm APEX Geoscience Ltd., with President Michael Dufresne acting as the Qualified Person overseeing core logging, photographing, and chain-of-custody protocols. Core samples from the initial holes have been dispatched for four-acid digestion and fire assay testing at the testing laboratories of ALS Limited (ASX: ALQ).
While visual observations represent trace to modest mineral abundances, generally around 1 to 2 percent, and pending laboratory results will ultimately establish true continuous widths and grades, the geology aligns with the company's broader exploration thesis.
Super Copper (CSE: CUPR / OTCQB: CUPPF) is testing breccia- and manto-style targets that could represent distal mineralization tied to a larger Iron Oxide-Copper-Gold system. With approximately 2,348 metres already drilled, four holes finished, and a fifth hole past 413 metres depth, market watchers now await the first round of official assay data to see if the visual copper shines just as bright on paper.
