Walmart once again is redesigning store layout

Walmart Inc (NYSE: WMT) is taking on the style of the airport as it redesigns its stores. She organizes her business so that customers can easily find, select, and pay for what they need. During the redesign, the retailer included larger and new signage to guide customers in choosing the products they want. Walmart encourages its customers to download the app on their smartphones. The app guides customers to the products they want in their store and mimics the design of the app. It makes it easier to navigate the store, search for products, scan the code at the POS and pay with a smartphone. Walmart will roll out the new design in 200 stores in the US by the end of 2020 and plans to expand to 1,000 by the end of next year. Walmart began the redesign process in 2019 and before the coronavirus crisis erupted. The new design includes features such as contactless payments. For example, customers can use the app on their smartphones for Scan & Go. This eliminates the interaction while others are paying. The retailer has redesigned the store based on feedback from valued customers. He can even make some changes at a later point in time based on customer reaction. Walmart participates in Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) with its digital redesign. In mid-September 2020, the retailer launched a $ 98 annual membership plan - Walmart +, which offers incentives like gasoline discounts, free shipping on products worth $ 35 and up, and new payment tools. Walmart generates half of its sales from groceries. However, the company generates lower margins from its main business - food. To improve its profit margins, the retailer diversified its product offering to include housewares and apparel. The retailer launched a '55 collection - Free Assembly, the new apparel brand in the $ 9 and $ 45 price range. Walmart's competitors, such as Costco, Amazon and Target, have had success introducing brands of apparel under private label. Walmart made a pact to sell its Asda to the billionaire brothers Issa for $ 8.8 billion. However, it paid higher value to acquire Asda more than 20 years ago. This signals the retailer's intention to focus on high-growth companies.
