UK regulators accuse Amazon and Alphabet of setting up fake reviews

Amazon.Com, Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ :ogle) are in trouble after the UK regulator announced it would open a formal investigation into them. The regulator has linked the two to some fake reviews. It is a matter of great concern to both of them because investors and product consumers will be following up closely to determine whether or not they have had fake reviews on their pages. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) says efforts are still ongoing to gather sufficient information to prove whether or not the above parties have broken the law. She will soon get to the bottom of the matter and make public the two companies that have not taken robust measures to combat the fake reviews on their platforms. The law requires companies to make a conscious effort to protect consumers. In the past, buyers have repeatedly fallen for fake reviews and then bought inferior products. The authority has set itself the task of protecting customers from such injustices and is therefore targeting the two companies. The agency is targeting the two companies after the CMA conducted an initial investigation in 2020. This aimed to examine several platforms and their internal system processes. The goal was to find out how the different companies deal with the fake reviews. CMA General Manager Andrea Coscelli said, "Our concern is that millions of online shoppers could be misled by reading fake reviews and then spending their money based on those recommendations. Besides, it just isn't fair if some companies can fake 5-star reviews to promote their products or services, while law-abiding companies lose out. " Analysts are still struggling to understand that the Amazon systems could not prevent or prevent some of the sellers from manipulating listings and products.
