Should you bet on smaller cannabis stocks now?

Do you want to invest money in marijuana stocks? If so, then most of the marijuana stocks you can buy did well for investors in March. Take Green Thumbs Industries, Inc. (GTIBF share report), for example, since March GTIBF shares have made three percent gains for shareholders.

As the cannabis industry begins to move towards federal legalization in the US, many investors are looking for the top pot stocks to add to their portfolio. As the marijuana industry continues to grow in size, leading cannabis stocks have positioned themselves for this moment. In fact, leading U.S. marijuana owner Trulieve Cannabis Corp. (TCNNF Stock Report) has built 93 pharmacies in the state of Florida. This is all in preparation for the day the state will become fully legal. Trulieve is another potential pot supply to buy that has made impressive profits in 2020.

While these larger MSO cannabis companies have proven to be some of the top performing marijuana stocks in the industry, there are also some smaller pot stocks that could be valuable to investors. Is there any growth potential in the cannabis industry? Currently, many analysts believe the cannabis industry could grow exponentially over the next 10 years. As long as that is true, investors picking the right pot stocks will enjoy the ride. Prior to 2020, top top stocks had a tumultuous time in the market, which is the case for many top top stocks across the board. In essence, marijuana stocks have shown one of the greatest volatilities in the stock market. Most importantly, investors need to understand cannabis stocks sufficiently to overcome fluctuations in their stock price.

In some cases, marijuana stocks have not yet recovered from the losses suffered in March 2020. Granted, there is always a risk of losing money when investing in stocks. But with some good research, you could potentially find a few marijuana stocks with some positive momentum. With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the smaller marijuana stocks that could see potential in 2021.

Marijuana Stocks To Buy Or Avoid: Corbus Pharmaceuticals Holdings, Inc. Corbus Pharmaceuticals Holdings, Inc. (CRBP Stock Report) is a drug clinical development company that pioneered transformative drugs that target the endocannabinoid system. Specifically, the company has made a cannabis-based drug called Lenabasum that is being tested in diseases of cystic fibrosis. Recently, Corbus announced some disappointing results on Lenabasum, which failed to meet its primary efficacy endpoint in a recent study. Although the drug was well tolerated and no new safety results emerged, the population stagnated. CRBP stock posted a huge loss back in September, falling from $ 9.25 per share on September 4th to about $ 2.33 per share on September 8th. As a result, the stock price decline coincides with the failure of Lenabasum, the first drug of its kind to be approved by the FDA.

But with current investors rushing out the door, the drop in prices could hold some profitability in the future. While Corbus addresses its problems with its flagship drug and the stock enters November trading at these levels, any positive developments could be a catalyst for the CRBP stock to potentially gain momentum. Marijuana Stock To Buy Or Avoid: Sundial Growers Inc. Sundial Growers Inc. (SNDL Stock Report) is a licensed producer who grows cannabis in state-of-the-art indoor facilities. The company's Growing Masters team specialize in high quality marijuana grown in smaller batches at these facilities. Currently, Sundial's brand portfolio consists of Top Leaf, Sundial Cannabis, Palmetto and Grassland. In recent news, the company announced the expansion of its Palmetto brand across Canada.

Palmettos' dried flower formats include popular varieties such as Nuken, Headband, and Chemdawg. The recent launch of Sundial in Quebec resulted in the Palmetto product selling out within two weeks. Although these new developments are promising, the stock has responded with positive momentum. SNDL stock is another marijuana stock that hasn't gained much momentum after its downtrend in March.

With a year-to-date high of $ 3.35 in early January, that could indicate the possibility of where the stock can go. Given the current share price of $ 0.18, this type of profit may seem impossible. But with every new positive announcement, one should be on the lookout for SNDL shares for a possible price increase.
