Most cannabis users still don't want concentrates

New data published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence has shown that nearly eight out of ten cannabis users prefer flower concentrates over infusion concentrates, despite the popularity of concentrates in recent years. This is surprising data to some, as concentrates are typically stronger than flower concentrates. <% {"name": "BoxSeenNews", "newsHeadline": "This mining stock in on fire and we know why", "link": "/news/rodents-may-keep-gold-fields-exploring-their-chilean-gold-deposit"} %> The study's authors stated, "The results showing that marijuana has greater beneficial effects than concentrates are in line with cannabis administration studies that show that moderate doses of THC are preferred over high doses. ... The present one Study suggests that contrary to concerns, ultra-high THC cannabis, such as concentrates, may not produce greater positive, potentiating effects when compared to lower THC cannabis such as marijuana (flower). "The main difference in the subjective effects of marijuana and concentrates lies in their positive effects, with marijuana producing greater positive effects than concentrates," the study said. "The negative effects of marijuana and concentrates were minor, suggesting that extreme negative effects are unlikely to occur in regular cannabis users. <% {"name": "BoxTickerSymbol", "tickerSymbolOne": "TSX-V:TBX", "tickerSymbolTwo": "WKN: A2PVJL"} %> Flower versus concentrates The study was conducted by Arizona State University and examined 574 test subjects from across the United States and their habits when consuming cannabis herb and cannabis concentrates and their comparative habits. Overall, 78 percent of those surveyed said they prefer herbal cannabis concentrates. Many respondents also stated that concentrates can have undesirable effects, including paranoia, forgetfulness, and cannabis hangover, to name a few. They found that bloom offered a better pain relief solution and better monetary value than concentrates. To collect this data, those who reported having used cannabis in the past few years were recruited online to conduct a survey of their history of use. When people reported consuming both cannabis flower and concentrates, they were then asked questions about the effects of both. The questions related to cognitive function, psychotic-like experiences, physiological effects and reduced consciousness. <% {"name": "BoxNewsletter"} %>   Respondents said they consume flowers between five and six times a week and only a little more than once a month with concentrates. The results also showed that cannabis was associated with overall positive effects, including better cognitive function. "Cannabis concentrates have much higher levels of THC than marijuana (flower) and are rapidly gaining popularity in the United States," the study explained. "One hypothesis is that consuming cannabis concentrates with a higher THC content (concentrates) could lead to greater intoxication and more severe acute negative effects than cannabis with a lower THC content (marijuana), but few studies have the subjective effects of concentrates and marijuana compared ". NORML Deputy Director Paul Armentano added his two comments on the findings, stating, "The conclusion that most marijuana users prefer low to medium potency options over high potency options is hardly surprising. As is the majority of people If alcohol users prefer beer or wine with relatively low potency to hard alcohol, most adult cannabis users prefer herbal cannabis preparations and move away from the comparatively stronger alternatives. Alternative cannabis options such as concentrates and edibles are extremely helpful for some people who cannot smoke or use flowers, but this survey shows that there will always be room in the cannabis community for the classics, including the simplest form of consumption.
