Mario Vetro’s Axcap Ventures: Drilling Holes in Junior Mining’s Problems
Mario Vetro’s Bold Vision to Revolutionize Junior Mining with Axcap Ventures

Gold’s rocketed past $3,000 an ounce(1), and U.S. fiscal discipline is a distant memory. It could be a perfect storm for junior mining, but the industry’s been limping along with a broken model—until now. Enter Mario Vetro, the maverick co-founder of K92 Mining, seasoned investor, financier, and partner at Commodity Partners. With his bold venture, Axcap Ventures (CSE: AXCP), Vetro is shaking up the junior mining space like a gold rush renegade, offering a lifeline to an industry desperate for innovation.
Mario Vetro: The Maverick Rewriting the Rules
Vetro’s no stranger to turning heads in mining. His track record at K92 Mining (TSX: KNT) cemented his reputation as a visionary who spots value where others see risk. Now, he’s taking aim at the dysfunctional junior mining ecosystem with a strategy that’s as audacious as it is transparent. “The junior mining model is broken,” Vetro declares, and he’s not mincing words. “I think anyone who follows the industry would agree that it is functionally broken.”
His solution? Axcap Ventures, an investment issuer, whose primary investments are in gold consolidator assets, which is flipping the script. Unlike the typical junior, scraping by on meager budgets and hoping for a buyout, Axcap is all-in on a high-octane approach. “We are doing something that has never been done before: transparently stating that we are going to spend a lot of money on marketing to create liquidity so we can always finance and do the very thing that creates the most value for our mining investments—DRILL, BABY,” Vetro says with characteristic swagger.
The Converse Deposit: A Nevada Gold Giant Ready to Shine
At the heart of Axcap’s story is the Converse Deposit, a 5.5-million-ounce(M&I)*(2) gold behemoth grading 0.53 g/t Au in Nevada’s Battle Mountain–Eureka Trend. It’s the largest deposit in the state not owned by a major, sitting pretty between I-80GoldCorp’s Lone Tree Complex ($380M market cap) and SSR Mining’s Marigold Mine ($2.8B market cap), which churns out gold at a slightly leaner 0.47 g/t.
Vetro’s bullish on Converse, and for good reason. “It’s in the right area, is 100% owned, has a district-scale footprint, and we are cashed up with approximately $10 million in the midst of a 5,000-meter drill program to test the resource at depth,” he explains. Axcap’s drilling to chase high-grade zones that could rival Barrick’s iconic Goldstrike—a bet Vetro’s backing with serious conviction.
So, what’s holding Converse back? Nothing, says Vetro. “Deposit must be refractory? No. There must be metallurgy issues? No. There has to be permitting problems? No.” The only reason Axcap’s been undervalued? “We just cleared our prospectus last Thursday,” Vetro reveals. “Until then, we couldn’t really talk about this asset, have a website live, or start any marketing programs—the most important part of our model.”
The Numbers: Axcap’s Potentially Undeniable Value
Vetro’s not just preaching potential—he’s got the numbers to back it up. “I want to highlight what I believe is one of the most obvious re-rating situations I have seen in my career,” he says. “Put simply: the value here is undeniable.” Axcap’s trading near the bottom of its peer group, despite Converse’s massive scale. Let’s break it down. Canaccord’s April 22 report pegs the average developer at a 0.41x P/NAV multiple. An internal study by Converse’s previous owner, Waterton, estimated its NPV at $1.1B. Vetro does the math: “If we assume a build cost of approximately $500 million, with $300 million of that being equity, the NAV would be around $800 million. At a 0.41x multiple, that would imply a valuation of $328 million.”
Even at a ultra-conservative 0.12x P/NAV multiple—like Newcore Gold, with 1.72M ounces at 0.55 g/t Au in Africa—Converse’s 5.99M ounces in Nevada would still command a $96M valuation. “Whatever way you slice it, the value in $AXCP is undeniable, and we are a prime candidate for a significant re-rating,” Vetro asserts.
Vetro’s All-In: Insider Buying and Drilling for Glory
Vetro’s not just talking the talk. “Right now, we are drilling to test the mineralization at depth below the pit shell—testing our theory that there is potential for something akin to Goldstrike,” he says. And he’s putting his money where his mouth is, with “significant insider buying” from himself and the Axcap team. “I’m not just saying this on social media,” Vetro emphasizes. “I am putting my money where my mouth is.” This isn’t hype—it’s conviction. With the prospectus cleared, Axcap’s marketing machine is revving up, ready to spotlight Converse’s potential to investors worldwide. Vetro’s vision is clear: liquidity fuels financing, financing fuels drilling, and drilling unlocks value. It’s a model that could redefine junior mining.
The Lifeline Junior Mining Needs
Mario Vetro’s Axcap Ventures isn’t just another junior miner—it’s a lifeline for an industry on its knees. With Converse’s massive scale, a cash-backed drill program, and Vetro’s maverick leadership, $AXCP is poised for a re-rating that could send shockwaves through the sector. As Vetro himself cautions, “These opinions are my own. Do your own due diligence.” But one thing’s certain: when Mario Vetro bets big, the market listens.
